Baby Bath

Kumiko is washing the baby in our new baby bath we got from our neighbors. I hope we are using it correctly?!

Mickey Pancakes

Today I am practicing making Mickey pancakes. Not too bad for my first try. I figure once I have the art of Mickey pancakes down, the rest of fatherhood will be a breeze.

今朝、エバンがミッキー型のホットケーキを作りました。なかなかのでき具合に本人は満足そう。子供に作ってあげられると、今からヤル気満々のようです。

Our first diapers!!!

We got baby stuff from our neighbor. They came from Japan to have a baby and they went back Japan last night. They gave us a lot of baby clothes and a baby bath. We bought Japanese diapers just 10 dollars each per pack. It is a little strange to have in our house now, but, we are getting ready to have a baby.

赤ちゃん用品を近所のお友達に頂きました。日本から出産のためにグアムに来られていたのですが、昨日日本へと帰国されました。その際に、赤ちゃんの服やガーゼ、お風呂を譲って頂きました。日本製のオムツも１パック１０ドルで！！赤ちゃん用品（特にオムツ）が家にあることに何だかまだ慣れず、変な感じですが、少しずつ赤ちゃんを持つ準備が始まりました☆

At the doctor's.

Today we will see a new doctor. This office has five on staff so we meet a few times with each so that we are sure to know the one on call during the birthing. The last one was nice I hope this one is nice too.

"What a hat! I like it! I like that party hat!"

Do you think we should ask my mom to make a hat like this for our baby boy? Maybe in blue? I think it's a cool hat but I'm not sure it's for boys, and it might be too hot for Guam?!

I feel you baby

We put the ultrasound pictures on our refrigerator. Now we see our baby everyday. Whenever I see the pictures, I look at my stomach too, because I still can't believe there's a baby inside my stomach. Even now, I feel the movement of the baby and my stomach is getting bigger. It is really magical. 超音波の写真は冷蔵庫に貼り、毎日のように見ています。でもなぜか写真を見たあとは自分のおなかも見てしまいます。胎動を感じ、お腹の膨れも感じた今でも、おなかに赤ちゃんがいることに半信半疑です。神秘的な現象だな～ってつくづく感じます！！ -Kumiko

Too Much Water!!!

We were looking forward to seeing our child by ultrasound. On the other hand, I was a little worried because I had to drink two bottles of water in 30 minutes! I don't think I've ever drank so much water in 30 minutes in my entire life. While we were in the doctors office waiting for our turn, I was just drinking water! I could only drink a lot because I was excited about seeing our baby. They told me to drink a lot of water because it is easier to see the baby in the ultrasound if my stomach is full. I'm not sure if this is true or not but I do know I was so full I was about to burst!!! Anyway, I was really happy when I saw our baby and now we know that the baby is boy!!!

This day is happy day!!

超音波で赤ちゃんの様子をみれる日をずっと楽しみにしていましたが、その一方で一つ不安もありました。それは、検診を受ける３０分前からボトル二本分の水を飲むように言われたからです。約１リットルの水を３０分で飲むなんて、人生で初めてのような気がします。待合室では、赤ちゃんのためっと思い、ひたすら水を飲み続けてました。なぜ水を飲むかというと、満腹状態の方が見えやすいらしいです。そのおかげ？！か、しっかりと赤ちゃん確認できました。

でも、さすがにお腹いっぱいでした。

なにはともあれ、おなかの中の赤ちゃんを見れたこと、そして男の子だとも分かって、とても嬉しい日でした。
